Peter Paul Kainrath is designated Intendant
By a unanimous vote of the General Assembly, Peter Paul Kainrath was appointed Intendant of Klangforum Wien for a period of four years, starting on January 1st, 2020.
Already in his previous professional life as a concert pianist, the cultural manager from South Tyrol has dealt with rarities and contemporary music. From 2001 to 2013, he was director of the festival for contemporary music Klangspuren Schwaz in Tyrol. Also in 2001, he founded the festival for contemporary culture Transart in South Tyrol, which he is managing to this day. Since 2007, he has also been responsible for the international Piano Competition Ferruccio Busoni. Kainrath is co-founder and president of the media association Mediaart Production Coop, which produces documentaries as well as television series for various channels on topics such as culture, art and minorities. In addition, he is involved in various cultural and communications projects such as Manifesta, The European Biennial of Contemporary Art, where he holds the post of Deputy Director.
Working as an innovator in his various functions, Peter Paul Kainrath stands for new strategies in music mediation, interdisciplinary projects and the development of new spaces as well as for the interconnection of regional and international scenes in the field of new music.
