Attila Wendler

Attila Wendler was born on October 7th 1959 in Budapest, where he also completed his vocal studies. Since 1987 he is a member of the Hungarian State Opera, where he was successful in various roles, including Alfredo („La Traviata“), Rodolfo („La Bohème“), Otello („Otello“), Laca („Jenufa“), Turridu („Cavalleria rusticana“) or Don José („Carmen“).
 
He also starred in Operettas; leading roles such as Der Zarewitsch, Eisenstein and Alfred („Die Fledermaus“), Barinkay ("Der Zigeunenbaron"), Rosillon ("Die lustige Witwe") and Su Chong ("Das Land des Lächelns") are part of his repertoire.
 
In 1999 he received the coveted Simándy-Price from the Hungarian State Opera for artistic excellence. He is equally at home on the concert-stage. Numerous radio recordings show him to be a very versatile artist.
 
Attila Wendler has been very successful in many European countries as well as in the United States, impressing audiences and critics alike. The German magazine „Opernspiegel” described his voice as having a „perfectly balanced lyrical character” and a „splendid higher register” which combine to ensure him a distinguished career.
