
Brice Pauset
Brice Pauset was born 1965 in Besançon (France). At first, he studied piano, violin, harpsichord, analysis and mediaeval philosophy before he turned to composition and became student of Michel Philippot, Gérard Grisey and Alain Bancquart in Paris. He continued his studies with Franco Donatoni in Siena and with Brian Ferneyhough in Royaumont; in addition, he attended a course in musical informatics at IRCAM. He performs as soloist on the harpsichord as well as the piano forte and works with many renowned orchestras, ensembles and soloists on a regular basis. His works can be heard at all great international contemporary music festivals such as the Festival d’Automne in Paris, Wien Modern, Musica Viva Munich, the Donaueschinger Musiktage or the Wittener Tage für neue Kammermusik. During the 2004/2005 season he was composer in residence at the opera in Mannheim. In 2008, Brice Pauset was appointed professor of composition at the Musikhochschule Freiburg/Breisgau.
L'idée de concerto implique structurellement la notion de dialogue ou de discussion. Généralement, et pour rester dans le champ de la métaphore rhétorique, c'est sur le mode de la conciliation que s'engendrent les solutions musicales.
