Keith Warner

Keith Warner, Director

As one of the most renowned British directors working today, Keith Warner has been responsible for productions such as „Lohengrin" at Bayreuth, „The Ring of the Nibelungs" in Tokyo, „I pagliacci/Cavalleria rusticana" at the Staatsoper Berlin, „Tosca" for ENO and the Portland Opera, „The Turn of the Screw" and „Macbeth" at the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels, „Die Frau ohne Schatten" in Hamburg, „La damnation de Faust" in Dresden and „Wozzeck" in Copenhagen. In October 2002, his hugely successful production of „Wozzeck" opened at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, which won the Olivier Award in 2003 for best opera production; and from 2004 - 2006 he scored another huge success with his complete „Ring of the Nibelungs", also at Covent Garden.

Keith Warner is regular guest at the Frankfurt Opera where he has most recently directed new productions of „Death in Venice" and „La cenerentola". In the autumn of 2008, his production of Aribert Reimann's opera „Lear" was met with high critical acclaim, as was one of his most recent productions, „Tempest" by Thomas Adès. He works in close collaboration with the Theater an der Wien where, after successful productions of Bloch's „Macbeth", „Don Giovanni" and „Flammen" ('Flames'), he created quite a stir with „Orlando Paladino" in the autumn of 2007 and, subsequently, with his „Katja Kabanowa" in April 2008. Future plans include new productions in Copenhagen, Strasbourg and at the Bregenz Festival in addition to his continued cooperation with the Frankfurt Opera and the Theater an der Wien.
