
Adrian Eröd, Baritone
Adrian Eröd was born in Vienna and studied at the University for Music and Performing Arts in Vienna with Franz Lukasovsky and Walter Berry. He received his diploma with distinction in the branch of study in song and oratorio.
His first success he gained on stage in 1996 as Billy Budd with the Neue Oper Wien. In the following years he acquired experience as a bariton at the Linzer Landestheater and the Wiener Volksoper such as Graf Almaviva, Papageno, Don Giovanni, Dandini, Figaro, Marcello, Zar Peter, Olivier in CAPRICCIO and Dr. Falke.
In summer 2000 he sang with achievement at the KlangBogen Wien the titlepart in the opera from Wolfgang Rihm JAKOB LENZ; at the same festival he participated a year later as Paul in the operetta BEZAUBERNDES FRÄULEIN von Ralph Benatzky. In spring 2003 he was invited from the Teatro La Fenice in Venice for the part Harlekin in ARIADNE AUF NAXOS.
After his successful debut in December 2001 as Mercutio in a new production from Gounods ROMEO ET JULIETTE, he became member of the Wiener Staatsoper from the season 2003/04 on. He is also singing there Figaro in BARBIERE, Papageno, Guglielmo, Marcello in LA BOHEME, Lescaut in MANON from Massenet and MANON LESCAUT from Puccini.
During the Mozart year in 2006 he presented his role as Papageno at the Wiener Festwochen and also at the festival of Aix-en-Provence.
In the last years he was performing at the Wiener Staatsoper the role of Olivier in a new production of CAPRICCIO, Loge in DAS RHEINGOLD, Beckmesser in DIE MEISTERSINGER and Jason in the world premiere of Aribert Reimann’s MEDEA. In addition he sang PELLEAS at the Hamburgische Staatsoper, Beckmesser in Zurich and Prospero in TEMPEST in the new production in Frankfurt. In 2009 he made a very successful debut at the Bayreuther Festspiele with Beckmesser in DIE MEISTERSINGER VON NÜRNBERG.
Recent and future projects include a new production of COSI FAN TUTTE and his debut as Eisenstein in DIE FLEDERMAUS at the New National Theater Tokyo, CAPRICCIO in Paris and Dresden, a new production of DIE FLEDERMAUS in Chicago, Beckmesser in DIE MEISTERSINGER in Amsterdam, the titlerole in the new production of DON GIOVANNI in Houston and Guglielmo with the Wiener Staatsoper in Athen. His good relationship with the Wiener Staatsoper will be continued also in the future and he will appear in several guest-performances including Valentin in FAUST, Conte in NOZZE DI FIGARO, Figaro in BARBIER, Werther, Lescaut, Dandini and Billy Budd.
Adrian Eröd gives recitals and is a well known singer: He sang under the baton of Nikolaus Harnoncourt the Matthäuspassion of Bach, he sang Mozart and Schubert with the Wiener Philharmoniker under the baton of Riccardo Muti and he sang also under the baton of Simon Rattle with the Berliner Philharmoniker Renard from Stravinkij and under the baton of Fabio Luisi he sang CARMINA BURANA and with Helmut Rilling the Magnificat from Bach. In the future he will sing Concerts and Recitals in Graz, Triest, Perth, Frankfurt, Dresden, Grafenegg, Raiding and Vienna.
Recently Adrian Eröd made a recording of Liszt-songs with the pianist Charles Spencer. The CD was publishes as Vol. 1 by MARSYS in the context of an edition with the complete Liszt-song-repertoire.
There is also publishes a DVD with Adrian Eröd as Beckmesser in DIE MEISTERSINGER VON NÜRNBERG in a production of the Wiener Staatsoper under the baton of Christian Thielemann.
Adrian Eröd is an award winner of many competitions like XV Hans-Gabor-Belvedere competition and he also won the George London stipend and he received the Eberhard -Wächter medal in 1998 for his interpretation of Billy Budd and Almaviva.
