Olivier Vivarès, clarinet

Born in 1980, Olivier Vivarès took his first clarinet lessons at the age of seven with Henri Escoffier. In 1995 he continued his studies at the Conservatoire National de Région de Marseille in the class of Claude Crousier. He later enrolled at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et Danse in Lyon, France, where he attended the classes of Jacques Di Donato and Robert Bianchiotto until 2002. He received his degree in bass clarinet under Armand Angster and Jean-Marc Foltz. Eventually, he completed a soloist programme at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik Trossingen with C. Halevi.
 
In 1998 Olivier won the International Victoria Competition (Canada) as well as the  the Carl Nielson Prize (Denmark) in 2005.
 
Due to his interest in contemporary music, Olivier has been a member of Klangforum Vienna since 2005 and has so far played with them in concerts for the Ars Musica festival, Brussels, Salzburg Festival, Biennale Venice and Wien Modern. 
 
Olivier Vivarès is part of the duo Approche with Olivier Marron (violoncello).
 
In July 2006 he was awarded with a scholarship from the Fondation Natexis and is currently supported by the Associaton Française d’Action Artistique and Mécénat Société Générale.
