Virginie Tarrête, harp

Born in 1973 in France. She studied harp and chamber music at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris with Marie-Claire Jamet and Francis Pierre, where she graduated with distinction in 1992, and at the Freiburg University of Music with Ursula Holliger.
 
She has been performing with the Orchestre des Champs-Élysées under the direction of Philippe Herreweghe as well as with Monteverdi Orchestra under the direction of John Elliott Gardiner since 1998. She is a member of the Ensemble l´Itinéraire since 1993 while often playing with the ensembles MusikFabrik, Köln, Recherche, Freiburg and Modern, Frankfurt.
 
As a soloist she has been invited to perform at international festivals such as the Internationale Ferienkurse Darmstadt, Festival Présences, Münchener Biennale, Wittener Musiktagen and Salzburg Festival.
 
Virginie Tarrête teaches harp at the Conservatoire National de Région in Besançon. She became a member of Klangforum Wien in 2007.
