


Dimitrios Polisoidis, Viola
Dimitrios Polisoidis was born in Thessaloniki in 1961. He studied the violin with Dany Dossiou in his home town and with Christos Poyzoides in Graz as well as viola with Herbert Blendinger. From 1990 to 93 he was principal viola player at the Philharmonic Orchestra in Graz. 1993 he became a member of Klangforum Wien as well as of the ensemble’s string quartet.
Dimitrios Polisoidis devotes himself above all to contemporary music and participates in various experimental improvisation groups.
He worked at the Electronic Institute of the University of Music in Graz (IEM Graz) as artistic collaborator, creating various live-electronic projects.
He performed in a great number of international concerts, collaborated with many renowned composers and played many world premieres, amongst them pieces that were written especially for him by Peter Ablinger, Georg Friedrich Haas, Bernhard, Lang, Klaus Lang, Gösta Neuwirth, Olga Neuwirth, George Lopez and others.
As part of the Klangforum professorship, he teaches at the University of the Arts in Graz and works as lecturer at the Impuls Akademie and the International Holiday Courses for New Music in Darmstadt.
His CD releases appeared with labels such as hatART (Basle), Kairos (Vienna), Klangschnitte (Graz), mode rec (New York) and Lyra (Athens).
